A large, gilt decorated Burmese manuscript trunk circa 1900.  Later modifications, lock removal, wood fillers, some regilding and loss.  Primitive made from dense teak wood, large and thick full width board construction big joinery on corners.

This is one of three manuscript chests we have recently acquired from a significant estate.  Collector acquired in Dallas, TX circa 1980’s, the item was imported into the US prior to 1956.

Some loss to applied gesso figures. We have many of the pieces that are missing from the chest and they could be re-applied.
